“Science is an universal methodical study of nature that has no room for boundaries and personal beliefs; therefore, it must be independent of our cultural, ethnic or religious origin. Neuroscience is a enthralling area of study that allows us to explore the neuronal basis of our behaviors, motivations, and feelings. Neuroscientists better than anyone should be aware of the need of including any single human being to help in the complex task of trying to understand how our brain shape us. The creation of a Twin Institute under The Science Bridge initiative is crucial for increasing human relations between cultures, and neuroscientists have the capability to make it work.”

Agnès Gruart received her BS degree and PhD in Psychology from the University Autonomous of Barcelona, under the supervision of Prof. Ignacio Morgado Bernal. During her PhD and Postdoctoral training she worked with Prof. José María Delgado García (University of Seville), Dr. Yeo (University College London, England), Dr. Schreurs (National Institutes of Health,  USA) and Dr. Neiss (Universität zu Köln,  Germany). Her main research interest is the physiological basis of learning and memory, trying to understand the neuronal processes underlying the acquisition of new motor abilities. Presently, she is Full Professor at the University Pablo de Olavide (Seville) and from 2017 to 2019, President of the Spanish Society for Neuroscience.
